Mind-Shifting Inspirational Quotes for Everyday Life
Life can be a struggle sometimes. We may wake up some mornings feeling energized and ready for the day, and other times we wake up wishing we could just crawl back in bed and let the world pass us by.
I've found that motivational and inspirational quotes can not only help you get through those tough life circumstances, but they can also give you an extra bit of hope when you are making progress toward a goal or dream you have.
Having been through several big life challenges myself, I started looking for quotations and sayings that would help me see the world in a better way. As I began filling my mind with positive words, I found that my whole perception of life changed. Instead of looking at each challenge as a bad thing, I began to see them as an opportunity to grow and better myself. Now, as a results, I don't let anything hold me back from chasing my goals and dreams.
No matter how hard the road is, I know that a little positive self-talk can go a long way. I've used the following quotes during all different aspects of my life and can honestly say that they have shifted my thoughts for the better. After reading through this page, I hope you walk away feeling confident in yourself. If you have a dream, go chase it! I'll be cheering you on the whole way.
Combating Negative Thoughts About Scars
Scars - we all have them. Sometimes they're physical and other times they're emotional. We often think of scars as being synonymous with imperfections because they are a blemish on our skin or heart. They are something that we weren't born with but that we must now live with forever. Society has taught us to cover them up because they are ugly and they tarnish our image, but I'm here to tell you otherwise.
I came up with this quote after receiving quite a few scars myself, the biggest being the four small ones I have from gallbladder removal surgery. When I initially saw the marks on my stomach, my positive self-image began to decrease and I felt like a part of my beauty had went away. A few of my family members and friends noticed and they pointed out how strong I was and that my scars had nothing to do with how beautiful I am as a person. That's when I realized that they are simply a representation of a life event that I was able to overcome. It's amazing how just a simple mind-shift can change the way we view ourselves.
An Inspirational Quote to Get Healthy
Do you enjoy reading motivational and inspirational quotes?
I think there's this assumption that you have to workout for a certain amount of time every day and you need to do a particular workout so that you can get healthy. Although this may be true to an extent, I think we are over-complicating the matter. Yes, we need to burn calories to keep extra fat off. Yes, we need to keep moving so that our muscles stay strong and our body is better able to fight off diseases. The problem is that we hear so many voices telling us what we should and shouldn't do, and that's enough to get anyone unmotivated.
My challenge for you is to find something that you enjoy doing and use that to work toward building a better body and a better you. There are SO many different activities that require movement. Here are some ideas to get you moving a little more:
- If you enjoy shopping, turn your mall trip into your exercise time. Instead of taking the escalator or the elevator, take the stairs instead. Also, park your car further from the door so that you have to walk a little longer to get inside.
- If you enjoy yard work, use a push lawn mower. Other options include pulling weeds each week (that will give your legs and back a good workout) and planting flowers.
- You could always take up a sport. Find a league in your city or go to a local park with some friends and throw a ball or frisbee around. Yes, it's that simple!
Find what drives you and use that as your motivation to get fit!
Getting Over Those Hills in Life
When I was a cross country runner, our coach used to take us to a different mountain every Monday so that we could practice running on them. We all dreaded those workouts and felt like dying in the end, but we knew that we would be stronger from it all. A friend of mine and I came up with this motivational and inspirational quote to get us through each workout. We decided that if we saw the hill or mountain as an opportunity to be a faster cross country runner, then the pain was worth it.
You can easily relate this to the emotional hills that we all face in life. Maybe you are struggling to make ends meet or you are trying to be a great student, but you have a full-time job and a family to take care of as well. Rather than seeing your hill as something that's impossible to overcome, starting looking at is as an opportunity to better yourself.
Motivational Quote for Living in the Moment
How often do you find yourself looking for the next big thing in life? Do you constantly wish that you had a better car, house, or life in general?
When we get caught up in focusing on all the things we don't have, we forget about all the blessings we actually do have. I'm sure we've all missed great opportunities that have been right in front of us because we were so focused on the future or a desire we had. I encourage you to take a look around you today and find what opportunities are sitting right there waiting for you.
Being Thankful for Life
Monday morning hits and you feel exhausted and have no desire to go to work. You know you have a busy week ahead of you and you're absolutely dreading it. I totally understand - we've all been down that road.
But at least you woke up today.
Somewhere in the world, someone breathed their last breath last night. They no longer have the chance to hug their loved ones, make an impact on the world, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature. Let that be a motivator for you to take advantage of each and every day you are given. Never take one breath for granted because you never know when it will be your last. Let this motivational and inspirational quote be a reminder of how precious life is.
Who says that an inspirational quote has to be all about helping everyone else but yourself? I think that as adults, we often forget to reward ourselves when we've accomplished something or have done something good. Although we may not need these treats to get motivated to do things, they are still nice to have. They give us that little extra boost and they validate why we do what we do.
The next time you do get through a hard week or find yourself reaching a goal you had created, then treat yourself! There is absolutely no shame in that.
