Golf Cart Decorations for Your Golf Cart
My community has a fun time in March with a parade of golf carts decorated for St. Patrick's Day. Everyone turns out to see the creative ways people interpret the theme. There are carts with shamrocks, leprechauns, pots of gold at the end of a rainbow, and other Irish icons.
The residents turn out for the parade wearing their own green attire, funny hats, and strings of shamrock beads. It's a big street party. Even if your community doesn't have a parade like this, you can still decorate your golf cart for the annual holiday as you go out to golf or drive around your community.
Here are some tips for turning your golf cart into a fun ride for the day one day a year when all of us are Irish. Have fun!
What Can You Use?
Anything green is great but look at party decor like banners, fringe, large shamrocks, and even holiday-themed plastic tablecloths. Next, figure out how to attach these to your cart so they won't fly off as you join in the parade or drive around your community or your golf course.
More Cart Decorations Ideas
- Green helium balloons or regular balloons
- Shamrock wreaths
- Green or gold garlands (rummage in your stored Christmas decorations)
- Strings of shamrocks
- "Happy St. Patrick's Day" banners
- Green fringe
- A pot of gold
- A leprechaun (or many leprechauns)
- Irish flags
- Garden banners with an Irish theme
Do a Test Drive
After you attach all your decorations with twist ties, clear package tape, or other means, take a slow drive up and down your street. You'll want to see what isn't secure and falls off. Re-attach it and secure anything that seems loose.
If you use duct tape or clear packing tape, don't put it on the painted part of the cart. You don't want it ripping off a strip of paint when you remove the tape. Attach tape on the windshield or the aluminum uprights of the cart. Then you can use a putty knife or Goo Gone to get the residue off.
The Wearing of the Green
You don't have to deck yourself out as a leprechaun or an Irish lass, but why not have fun? A green shirt, an Irish hat, or a green sash puts you in the spirit for some fun as you drive along in your decorated golf cart. You can even get some spray-on hair dye to turn your hair or beard green. Make sure it says on the container that it washes out easily.
If you have a dog, tie a shamrock bandana around his neck. Dogs love taking a ride in the golf cart.

This is a well-illustrated and interesting article. St. Patrick's day is getting bigger in the UK with parades in some cities, but I haven't come across decorated golf buggies before.
