DIY Dollar Store Halloween Centerpieces
As October draws near, we look forward to celebrating Halloween. Part of the fun of getting ready for fright night is in the decorating. You can make some really nice centerpieces for your home too. For example, you can use pool noodles to create spooky Halloween candles, or wine glasses can be turned upside down and painted like ghosts to create a really unique-looking centerpiece.
The possibilities are endless; with just a little imagination and a lot of creativity, you can create something spectacular for your party. So check out these ideas to get started.
Upside Down Wine Glasses
For a quick and easy centerpiece, turn wine glasses upside down and paint them like Halloween characters such as witches and goblins. This is a fun craft that children can get involved with too. Once dry, you can add a battery-operated tea light on top. This will make a lovely decoration while you eat your Halloween meal.
This Halloween centerpiece is made from wood candlesticks on a round wood base with wood balls that are painted to resemble eyeballs underneath.
Pool Noodle Candles
It's hard to believe that this realistic-looking set of candles is made from pool noodles which are easily and cheaply purchased at your local dollar store.
- Pool Noodles
- Black Battery Operated Tea Lights
- Glue Gun
- Black Acrylic Paint
- Faux flowers
- Begin by cutting each of the pool noodles into different sizes so that you can have different-sized candles.
- Fit your Battery Operated Tea Light into the hole and snip into the noodle if needed.
- Next, take your glue gun and make drippings around the noodle as if it was melted wax.
- Then you paint them black and allow them to dry.
- Finally, hot glue each 'candle' into your tray and add the skull and flowers or any other decorations you like.
Pumpkins and Witch Legs
Gourds are a traditional look for Halloween. To Make these pumpkins and witch legs surrounded by glittered baubles, you can purchase witches' legs, or you can make your own by stuffing striped stockings.
Gothic Skull Floral Centerpiece
This gothic skull floral centerpiece is easily made using dollar store supplies. Purchase skulls and paint them in black, purple and silver. Then hot glue them to make a skull topiary effect. You can then make a base of faux flowers to hot glue them onto as well as a base.
Witch's Hat Centerpiece
Never underestimate the power of a witch's hat when it comes to Halloween decorating. You can use the hat as your focal point and build on this by layering decorations such as skulls and orange flowers to create drama.
This Stand-alone Ghost is made with cheesecloth and starch. You could create a whole family of them for your table, and why not add some battery-operated fairy lights underneath them to really make them stand out.
Gourds in Vases
Whether real or fake, gourds in vases make for a very impressive Halloween centerpiece. Place in between black pillar candles for a piece that will take you all through fall.
When it comes to making most decorations, filled jars are always a great option. You can go with whatever color scheme you like, such as black and orange or purple. Place a couple of jars in an arrangement and fill them with little trinkets such as mini ornaments in these colors. Finish by adding a little sign that says, "Happy Halloween."
