The holiday spirit is in the air! This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love baking sweet treats and creating new decorations to display in my home. This adorable snowman is only the beginning.

To get in the decorative spirit, I wanted to make something sparkly and festive using materials I already had on hand. It's always important to me to use what I have and try to give old items new life.

This charming snowman is simple and easy to make. It's also a great reason to pull out your holiday decorations and get your family into the festive spirit. Use what you have on hand, improvising as necessary to customize the snowman to your tastes. This is a decoration your entire family will love for years to come.

These are the materials and supplies I used to create my adorable snowman decoration.

Materials Needed

  • Old container (I used a protein-powder container)
  • Silver garland
  • Old stocking or Santa hat
  • Decorative ribbon
  • Red or orange cloth and stuffing
  • Two old buttons (optional)
  • Hot glue

Instructions

  1. Begin by hot gluing your silver garland around your old container. Continue gluing all the way up until the entire container is covered.
  2. Choose which side of your container will be the front of your snowman.
  3. Position your old stocking or Santa hat on the top of your container. Hot glue it down so that the entire top of the container is covered.
  4. Carefully wrap the ribbon around the middle of your container and tie it into a knot to create a scarf.
  5. To create a nose for your snowman, cut a large triangle shape from your cloth. Fold it in half lengthwise and glue along the seam, leaving a small opening. Place some stuffing or cotton balls inside to give it shape. I used a piece from an old stuffed animal.
  6. Position your nose where you'd like it and hot glue it to your snowman. If you'd like, add buttons for eyes. I chose to leave my snowman as-is.
  7. Display your snowman in your home as part of your holiday décor.

Such easy to follow instructions, Alyssa, and so creative! It’s so nice to decorate with your own crafts during the holidays rather than buying ones that all look the same. Thanks for sharing!
