Easter Christian Poems for Children
Debbie enjoys writing prayers for a variety of occasions and sharing them with others.
Children Easter Poems
These poems are for young elementary school-aged children. They are fun, expressive, and enjoyable. We have used them and so many others throughout the years. Please feel free to use them in your Easter Christian poems for children program.
Jesus Lives Poem
"Jesus lives," the Easter bells
The tidings now proclaim,
And we will sweetly sing as well
To praise His holy name."
A Easter Lily Poem
This poem is for a small child carrying an Easter lily.
"Every Easter lily (1)
By garden (2)
fence or wall,
Has a blessed (3)
message
That it breathes to all. (4)
I'll (5)
be an Easter lily,
A message, too, (6)
I'll bring;
I'll gladly (7)
tell that Jesus lives,
A loving reigning King!"
Motions
- The child looks down at the lily
- Glance from side to side
- Smile
- Extend both hands to side
- Right hand on breast
- Shake head up and down emphatically
- Hand extended upward
The Message of That Garden Poem
This poem can be recited or read by four children, giving each a paragraph. The children can all walk out together and stand side by side as each recites or reads his or her paragraph. Or one or two children can present this poem also.
"The message of that garden,
The glade so far away,
In far-off dim Judea,
Still lives this Easter day.
It whispers of the Master
Who slept within it's shade,
And tells of Easter morning
When Glory filled the glade.
O every sleeping garden
Awaits that Easter Word
And wakes to life and beauty,
To song of caroling bird.
The message of that garden
Forevermore shall ring,
For lo, it tells the mighty power
Of Christ the risen King!"
The Nicest Kinds of Flowers Poem
The child can carry a small or large bouquet behind his or her back. Make the bouquet out of smiley face cookies, suckers or cardboard faces use your imagination.
"I think the nicest kind of flowers
To have on Easter Day
Are just a big bouquet of smiles
That you can give away!
I have some here I brought for you,
Will you have just one or two?"
Once the recital is over have the child walk to the audience and pass out a few smiley faces treats to the adults in the crowd.
Joy Poem
For three small children, each carries a white pasteboard heart lettered with their letter in gold.

'Tis this the Easter season brings."

Who must hear the message true."

Have you sent good tidings on their way?"

That joy shall reign in every heart."
