Wedding planning can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. Here's a guide to the best websites for getting free samples to help you plan your special day.

I like free stuff... a lot. I am about to be a bridesmaid in a wedding, so I'm doing a lot of research on wedding-related items. The bride is very frugal, bless her heart. She needs to be for crying out loud! This wedding has snowballed and is growing exponentially. We are bargain hunters, the two of us. We even got up in the middle of the night on Black Friday to battle the masses, all in the name of saving a few bucks. So, when she asked me to "help" with the wedding, I knew what she meant.

One thing that's pleasantly surprised me is the number of free wedding samples out there for the taking. You can test drive a number of products before you actually invest any money. You just have to know where to look, and that's where I come in!

There are more than a few websites that will happily send you invitation samples to help you find the perfect card.

Free Invitation Samples

I remember spending WAY too long looking at wedding invitations when I was getting married. You can make it a little easier by finding places online willing to send out free samples. Just remember to plan ahead since some of the items take a few weeks to ship. Check out the following websites to get your free stuff:

The American Wedding

Best Wedding Websites

It seems every engaged couple has their own website these days. In fact, it's an excellent way to disseminate wedding information, updates, changes, manage RSVPs, etc... They are also a great after the wedding keepsake. Check out these sources for your own free wedding website:

eWedding has tons of bells and whistles coupled with very nice designs. There's almost nothing you can't do on here, I'm telling you.

MyWedding is also a cool idea. You can match your website to your wedding invitation here if you've used one of their invitation partners. You're in luck if you've chosen Wedding Paper Divas, The American Wedding, Papeterie, Minted or Hello Lucky. They have a lot of templates, however. Surely one would coordinate with your invitations. Check it out!

Project Wedding has beautiful themes that are highly customizable. They include options for guest books and maps as well.

Instead of paying for invitations, you can just direct your guests to a website dedicated to your special event. It's free, and, better yet, waste free!

Veil Samples

Veils by Roxanne offers samples. They offer highly customizable veils, too (even with their samples!). You can pick the edges, fabric, color, and embellishments...

WeddingVeil.com also offers samples, but they're not nearly as customizable as Veils by Roxanne.

Silk Flower Petal Samples

Some couples like to use flower petals to decorate for the big wedding day. If you're one of those couples considering this adornment, you can get some free samples to help you make your decision.

Petal Garden offers free samples of their silk rose petals. You can get up to ten petal colors.

Awesome Free Products Just for Registering

Samples Out in the Real World

When I was getting married, I got quite a lot of free stuff just in the course of a day of shopping. One of the best ways to get samples is just to ask. You'd be surprised by the number of items you can get this way!

People really want to help brides and grooms. They're more than willing to go the extra step for you. Just ask and you shall receive!

SHAZ!!! It's so great to see you, I haven't heard from you for so long. Thanks for coming by and commenting. Weddings are astronomical indeed. I have two girls so I'm bracing myself. Happy new year to you.

What a wonderfully written, useful and informative article! I understand why weddings cost so much now. All those lovely freebies have to be paid for in other ways. What a wonderful goal for a bride to do a frugal wedding by getting something for nothing... if only I had thought about this when I married! lol

oldandwise, I love balloons for weddings, especially sleek, ivory ones. Thanks for coming by, commenting and up voting.

Great advice, especially when everything costs so much. I did a hub on weddings using balloons for decorations. With the cost of flowers, balloons are becoming more popular. Voted up!

First of all, congratulations Emma! I'm glad you found the hub useful and I hope others do too. Thanks for coming by.

Wow, I had never thought of this. I am getting married in the summer so sites like these are rather useful to me. I like to get ideas from other people and sites - like invitations and seating plans. Nice hub - thanks.
