How we wish that the warmth of August could be stored in bottles to be poured out on the cooler temperatures to come later in the year! Still, there are many ways to appreciate the last of the summer heat while it is present. Keeping our bug repellent handy, we can enjoy outdoor activities with our school-age children while they are on holiday. Early morning or late evening walks, beach parties, cycling, theme parks, and barbecues with home-made ice cream at the end of the day come to mind.

The following 31 quotes—one for each day of the month—are gentle reminders of summer ingredients like sunshine and gardening that add to our joy throughout the season. We may conclude that August has some impressive qualities, after all.

Hello Dora, this is such a lovely collection of quotes about August. I was delighted to see some people here that I really admire like Henry David Thoreau, John F. Kennedy, Sylvia Plath, and Ray Bradbury, among others. It really wakes me up to see what I've been missing when the only thing remarkable to me about August is that it's my birthday month. Thank you !

Speaking of birthdays, August is my birth month. I've come to love the color of peridot even though I didn't like it when I was growing up. So, I like all of your lovely quotes, except for #8. The only thing depressing about August is when I was a kid, I had to go back to school. LOL. You made August feel wistful rather than depressing, though. Thanks for gathering these quotes to share. Most of them I hadn't seen or heard before.
