30 Quotes About April: Month of Re-Awakening

Ms. Dora loves to share poetry, creative writing, quotes, and reflections and has been writing online for over eight years.

The daisy is one of the official flowers of April.

The daisy is one of the official flowers of April.

April awakens from her winter snooze and blows a cool but not chilling breeze over the earth. The flowers join the re-awakening and burst open their blossoms. People embrace the outdoors in temperatures that are neither wintry nor sultry. Animals appreciate the longer hours they have to graze. And, according to Langston Hughes in April Rain Song, "The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk," and "plays a little sleep song on our roof at night."

What better way for sassy April to make her entrance than with the humor of All Fools' Day?

I like number 2, Dora. It seems to fit a lot of people I know - maybe even myself. Have a terrific March as we get ready for the reawakening.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 26, 2020:

Thanks for sharing, Manatita. I continue to learn much from you.

manatita44 from london on February 26, 2020:

Haha.

I was like you when I started 38 years ago. Our Christianity is so full of Saints and monasticism, yet I knew very little. With spiritual awakening, I began to learn so rapidly, of both East and West and soon realised that we are using different names for the same thing in so many ways!

Telling the rosary is like mantra or Japa, as is Gregorian chants. Silent Prayer of the monks is meditation and so forth. The Desert Fathers repeated the Jesus Prayer constantly!

I'm just saying, that for everything in the East, there is an equivalent in the West. We talk of Angels and Arch-angels, they speak of Gods and Goddesses, but Brahman is God. We are really one. Peace!

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 26, 2020:

Thanks Brenda, for your positive feedback. So happy when I manage to please my readers.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 26, 2020:

Manatita, thanks for sharing a bit of Sri Chinmoy history. Never heard of mahasamadhi, but I looked it up so I've learned a new word.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on February 26, 2020:

Ms. Dora,

You do quite a bit of work to provide us with these quotes. They are interesting to read.

I have always heard April showers bring May flowers.

I would have hated Alda's teacher who gave him a sandwich on April Fool's day...a dead goldfish.

Thanks for sharing your work and I love how you link the one from March.

Have a great day!

manatita44 from london on February 26, 2020:

It is also one of our two significant Celebrations as April 13th, 1964, is the day Sri Chinmoy landed in America. He spent 43 years teaching Spirituality and took mahasamadhi - a Yogi's conscious exit from his physical body - in Oct 2007.

I like the purple/lilac flowers and the daisies. Beauty indeed!

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 26, 2020:

Layne, thanks for your encouraging comment. Finding beautiful lines on April was not difficult, and it was a pleasure.

Layne Holmes from Bend, Oregon on February 24, 2020:

Some beautiful images, beautiful lines, and a great list of observation. Thank you for sharing, Ms. Dora.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 24, 2020:

Flourish, how I wish that you could feel the cool breeze instead of the biting cold just by thinking of spring. Hold On! It will soon be here.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 24, 2020:

Kari, Mark Twain made me smile too. Hoping for your sake that the groundhog is reliable. Happy Spring arrival when it comes.

FlourishAnyway from USA on February 24, 2020:

What wonderful quotes .... funny, poetic, thoughtful. Thank you for these on this cold February day.

Kari Poulsen from Ohio on February 24, 2020:

You have to love Mark Twain. He had a very clever mind. I think that may be my favorite. Now I'm starting to look forward to spring. Hopefully, the groundhog was right and it will be here soon.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 23, 2020:

Eiddwen, thanks for your visit. It encourages me to know that you loved all the quotes.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 23, 2020:

Marie, all the months are special, offering their own magic. Thank you for your contribution of Chaucer's lines on April. His work is a classic for all times.

Eiddwen from Wales on February 23, 2020:

Thank you for sharing this gem Dora. Each month has beauty and it's own magic. Loved all the quotes.

Marie Flint from Jacksonville, FL USA on February 23, 2020:

That's a lot of observances for one month. I wonder how the other months fare by comparison.

You did miss one of my favorite poems by Chaucer. His Canterbury Tales begins: Whan that Aprile with his shoures soote . . . [When April, with its sweet showers . . . (for some reason, April is considered masculine during the 14th Century).

What a fun month!

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 23, 2020:

Bill, it's coming. Glad you like my favorite month. I'm also waiting with some excitement.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 23, 2020:

William Kovacic from Pleasant Gap, PA on February 23, 2020:

Hi, Dora. I can hardly wait for that wonderful month. I confess, right now, it seems far off, but I know it's coming. Thanks for the reminder.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on February 21, 2020:

This is another enjoyable quotations article. I especially liked the "April Memories" section. I think the quotes in that section are beautiful, except for number 8. That's impressive (and thought-provoking) for a different reason. Number 12 is impressive and thought-provoking as well.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 21, 2020:

Thanks, Pam. April seems to be just right--neither wintry nor sultry." Have a great weekend yourself.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 21, 2020:

Donna, thank your very much for reading. I appreciate your kind comment.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 21, 2020:

Thanks, Linda. I appreciate the kind sentiments. You encourage me.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on February 21, 2020:

Liz Westwood from UK on February 21, 2020:

As the days stretch out and the buds of spring appear, April is a popular month. Often it coincides with Easter and holiday time in the UK.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on February 21, 2020:

April is a month of promise. Flowers are blooming, our trees are shaking off the slumber of winter and budding out with fresh leaves. It is the month of my sister's birthday, and we will celebrate Easter! You have removed the winter gloom and filled our spirits with sunshine.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 21, 2020:

Thanks, Louise. That's something else we share in common. April is also my favorite month.

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on February 21, 2020:

Hi Dora I feel your quotes for April are informing us of the goodness one can feel or have in this beginning of Spring. Greatly expressed!

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on February 21, 2020:

Basically April is a big reminder to me about my attitude. Why does it seem Winter is the longest of all seasons, when in fact Spring has more days in it? Winter is the longest because in Winter my attitude is the shortest.

But I have noticed over a few years now that you, Dora, live in a perpetual Spring. Whenever I read your work I feel Spring arriving.

Funny about April -- it does not know that Spring starts during her time.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 21, 2020:

Thank you, Rosina. I love searching for quotes and I love it even more when readers like you appreciate them.

Rosina S Khan on February 21, 2020:

Dora, you amaze me with your quotes of April because they are all so awesome. I also loved to know April Observations. Thank you for such a terrific contribution.
