Adrienne, thanks for your comment. I totally understand the conflict. We have the opportunity to find something good about both parts. The cool weather is good; so is the new beginning. Best of both worlds to you!

Adrienne Farricelli on July 29, 2020:

September is bittersweet to me. I like that the summer heat begins to get milder, and staying outdoors is more pleasant, yet it's also signals the end of summer and vacations and the beginning of school for school-age children.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 27, 2020:

Bill, that's interesting! Does that mean you spend most of the time working or vacationing? whatever you do, stay safe this September!

September/October is my favorite time of the year. It just seems like it doesn't stick around long enough. I'll have to make every minute count. Thanks, Dora.

So many good quotes. The September that came on schedule and lasted all month made me laugh. What happened to August? Did I miss the August quotes?

Blessings,

Thank you, Antonio. Except in the tropical regions like where I live, September is usually cooler.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 15, 2020:

Thanks, Nell. Life is never all sunshine, so we must endure something else for a little while. Hoping that you sadness doesn't last too long.

Tony.

Nell Rose from England on July 14, 2020:

That was wonderful. I love September even though it always leaves me slightly sad. It's rather like the end of the sun, and going into winter. Always lovely to read your words Dora, take care

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 12, 2020:

Bill, fall is also my favorite season. Won't experience the colors and the cool this year, but I'll appreciate the pictures.

True, Manatita. Sounds like you. You could have said that some place. Thanks for your revisit.

manatita44 from london on July 10, 2020:

Read it again. Hard on mothers especially with the children, but great for nature lovers and those seeking more temperate climates.

'the doorway to the season that awakens my soul.' This person is worth watching from my rearview mirror. Haha. Some interesting reflections.

I love September not only for the colours it will throw all around but the fact that the hot summer is gone, the weather is cooling down winter is not far off.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on July 07, 2020:

The quotations are interesting, as always. I love the ones in the first section, especially the first quote. That's a beautiful way of describing summer yielding to autumn.

Greg, thanks for your encouraging comment. September will soon be here. Enjoy the birthdays. Recall some happy memories which include your dear mom. Celebrate your favorite time of year.

greg cain from Moscow, Idaho, USA on July 07, 2020:

Dora - if it’s September, I’m older by a year; my sister is, too. My mom’s birthday will pass on the 22nd, and we will all celebrate and mourn all over again. Football will start, and the air is crisp and cool on Friday night under the lights. I will be at my happiest enjoying my favorite time of year. This September I’ll think of you and this great article, too. So many great quotes, so many positive ways to look at the transition from summer heat to winter cool on the very near horizon. Strange to feel that way in July, but reading this did make me sense it for a moment...

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 07, 2020:

Thanks, Peggy. You're right. If ti's September, cooler days are coming--soon.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 07, 2020:

Mohsin, thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on July 07, 2020:

Some of these sayings are funny, others somber, and the #16 one is very accurate. At least even if we are still experiencing summer heat in September, we know that cooler days lie ahead. That is something to look forward to enjoying.

Mohsin on July 07, 2020:

Wow nice.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 07, 2020:

Thanks, Lorna. The natural poet in you responds to that lovely verse about autumn. Understandable!

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 07, 2020:

Bill, happy for you that you have already escaped the hot weather. Enjoy your good fortune! Will patiently await my turn.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 07, 2020:

Eric, I love the imagery in Stephen King's quote. I bet you you like that too, plus the reality of missing a friend you love. You're special!

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 07, 2020:

Flourish, I lost it for a minute. Didn't mean to overlook you. Fall is also my favorite season. I've learned to live with the heat, but the cooler temperature is welcome.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on July 07, 2020:

Thanks, Manatita. I miss those colorful leaves but I also like being where I am. No complaints.

Lorna Lamon on July 07, 2020:

I remember when I lived in Italy I always looked forward to the first breath of Autumn. Wonderful quotes and memories Dora - I feel drawn to No.4 - Luis MscNeice - perfect quote.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on July 07, 2020:

It feels ridiculously like Autumn right now where we live, which is all right with me since I don't like hot weather. Loved the quotes, as always! Thank you for the inspiration, Dora!

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on July 07, 2020:

Anticipation is a wonderful thing with seasons. Us desert rats see September a bit different. The coast sees more of seasons than us out here away from it.

I loved these quotes. #3 Stephen King's was my favorite.

manatita44 from london on July 07, 2020:

Lovely quotes. I can see the rose-coloured changes in the trees. Awesome!

FlourishAnyway from USA on July 07, 2020:

#7 sums up my feelings nicely. Summer is too hot for me so I welcome fall and the promise of cooler temps to come, even if they aren’t quite realized yet.
